Welcome Fall 2018

Mayor Picture

The City of Deming has been busy this summer with several projects that are in the works and others that are currently in the planning stage. The reuse storage pond project is moving along. We are making progress, but the last few stages are proving to take a bit longer to complete than expected. We ask that you bear with us as we are aiming for a spring 2019 unveiling.

Street work continues and the monies from the General Obligation Bond are now available, so work can begin on the repair and replacement of streets identified in the City's Pavement Maintenance Plan. The first street scheduled for repair is Hickory from 8th Street to Highway 418. Be prepared for construction detours as this project gets underway. We are about to begin construction on the Walking Path on Florida Street from Columbus Road to 8th Street, as well. We look forward to the completion of this project. The anticipated start date for the path is the first week of October.

A huge thank you to UNM and the Woodbury School of Architecture for their assistance in the planning of the City of Deming's Business Incubator project. This is a great venture and collaboration that we believe will achieve positive results for our business community and the City's goal of boosting economic development.

If you have questions about any of the projects or processes, please attend our town hall meetings or set up an appointment with staff. Our next town hall is scheduled for October 30th at the Andres Z. Silva Conference Center, 119 E. Pine Street, beginning at noon.
The City of Deming would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season and encourage everyone to get out and enjoy all the events taking place this fall.

Regards,
Benny L. Jasso, Mayor
