Summer is Upon Us

Welcome to summer 2017, the City of Deming will be working on several construction projects over the summer months. Please be aware of detours as we continue to work areas of concern related to streets and projects that are beginning or in the process of completion.

The City of Deming has adopted a pavement maintenance plan designed to address street improvements. The plan is in effect and the completion of the first phase is near. We ask that you bear with us as we move forward. We have currently performed maintenance on over 12 miles of streets. These repairs are not permanent, but will help stretch our dollars as we continue smoothing out our roads.

The new high school is near occupancy status and the City's drainage project on Buckeye and Iron is in full swing. This project is designed to assist with channeling rainwater down Buckeye, to Iron Street and then onto the drainage channel along Florida. Both projects are on schedule now and we are excited for DPS as they move into the new facility.

Other events and activities in the City include the Silas Wilson Summer Youth Program, the Sam Baca Aquatic Center and the Summer Lunch Program in the parks. And a reminder that we have free Wi-Fi at Girl Scout Park, take the family out and make a day of it.

Have a Great Summer!

Benny L. Jasso, Mayor
