To maintain and protect the City of Deming’s vital records and to provide public access in accordance with the Inspection of Public Records Act, in a professional manner.

About Us

The City Clerk’s Office maintains and protects all official City records and provides public access to these records, including ordinances and resolutions in compliance with the Inspection of Public Records Act. The City Clerk's Office oversees the meeting requirements for the City’s boards, committees, and commissions. The City Clerk’s Office oversees business license registrations.

Services

The City Clerk’s Office sends notices to the public on all meetings involving the City Council. Agendas are available on the City’s website and are provided to the public, as requested in person or electronically.

All meetings are to comply with the New Mexico Open Meetings Act (NMSA 1978, Chapter 10, Article 15). The City of Deming complies with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (NMSA 1978, Chapter 14, Article 2). If you need assistance in accessing either of these links for the Open Meetings Act (OMA) or the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), please contact the City Clerk’s Office.

The Municipal City Clerk is designated as the Custodian of Public Records for the City of Deming, the City

of Deming Police Department, and the City of Deming Fire Department/EMS.  


Request to Inspect Public Records

To request the inspection of public records, you may submit your request via this Link or by downloading the form below.

Procedures for Requesting Copies and Associated Fees:

If a person requesting inspection would like a copy of a public record, a reasonable fee may be charged. The fee for documents eleven inches by seventeen inches or smaller is $0.50 per page. The fee for larger documents is $0.75 per page. For records other than documents, the reasonable fee is $5.00 per CD. The records custodian may request that applicable fees for copying public records be paid in advance, before the copies are made. A receipt indicating that the fees have been paid for making copies of public records will be provided upon request to the person requesting the copies.

Procedures for Applying for a Business License

Applicant must submit an application to obtain a Business Registration - Link which includes a NM State Business Registration Tax ID GRT Number. Please also access the Fire Code Inspection List to ensure that your proposed location is up to Fire Code.
