Mission Statement

All members of the Deming Police Department believe in responsibility of our police, governmental bodies and citizens to improve Deming's quality of life and defend our community. Officers have taken an oath of office and vowed to protect our citizen's lives, property and rights, fairly enforce the laws of the City of Deming, the State of New Mexico and the Constitution of the United States. Working together with all of the citizens of our community, we will work to maintain order, reduce crime and the fear of crime through education, prevention, and enforcement to provide safe environment and proud society.

The Deming Police Department currently is a 36 sworn officer department including administration and criminal investigations. We also employ four full time Animal Control/ Code Enforcement Officers and four person office staff.

Divisions within the department include a 10 person Special Response Team with 4Ã? Crisis Negotiators which are utilized in serving high risk warrants, resolving incidents with barricaded subjects, hostages etc. All necessary equipment is provided by the department as well as an annual clothing allowance specifically for this division.

There is a bicycle team which is in service for day or nighttime operations, assisting with large public activities as well as patrolling the City of Deming. All necessary equipment is provided by the department as well as an annual clothing allowance specifically for this division.

Documents needed for Background:

  • Photo ID - MVD Driver's License or Photo ID (non-expired)
  • Social Security Card (original)
  • Original Birth Certificate or Certified Copy (must be readable)
  • Written Request Form Provided by Department

Police reports are available from department receptionist in three business days.

Please bring your Reference Case number with you when requesting a report.

Filing a complaint in regards to a situation or an officer can be done in the following manner:

  • Request a supervisor
  • Monday through Friday (excluding holidays)
  • Regular business hours (8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.)
  • Obtain a complaint form, complete it and return it to a supervisor of the Department (Forms available at the Deming Police Department)
